Bill's Corner- An Eastern Spruce Perspective

A larger participation by retailers increased the volume of orders transacted in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday, well surpassing the previous day’s total. Buyers were busy looking for any cheap leftover availabilities that either the mills or wholesalers had left to sell. Once again 2x4 & 2x6-9’ trims were at the forefront of demand with other items not far behind. The mills were quick to firm up prices on many items, often obtaining higher numbers then they did last week. With the orders obtained mill shipments extend well into January with very few exceptions.
