The volume of orders improved over Monday’s tally in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday. Activity remained strong but the lack of availability on key items and much higher mill asking prices on them deterred additional sales. Clients were ready to buy but they were not interested in chasing the mills and paying much more than they did a couple days ago. Buyers retracted from the market to digest things. The mills did have some items they could ship quick, but they did not attract attention to many buyers although some knowing their relative value did react.
