The volume of new orders was slightly less in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday. Activity continued to be strong, and it was still a very good day for new orders but the lack of wood from the mills did have its effect, restricting the potential for more. Reliance on distributor’s reloads was the basis for many of the orders transacted. Prices rose by double digits this week and had the support from the retail community as they appreciated. Once again, the demand in the marketplace did not seem to be entirely fulfilled. Some needs were met but demand for more was quite evident.
