Lighter activity and slower sales spotlighted the eastern spruce lumber market last Friday. Prices were flat on most items during week allowing clients to assess their current inventories and needs. Their buying philosophy has not changed, replacing product as it sells. There was also a reluctance to extend their inventories too far. The eastern mills did not sell what they wanted last week with most relying on their order files to be firm with prices on the items they did have to sell. All 2x6 items continue to remain very tight while increased supply on 2x4 was building.
