Bill's Corner- An Eastern Spruce Perspective

Last week ended on a quieter note in the eastern spruce lumber market. The eastern mills had some items they wanted to move but avoid taking the steep discounts seen earlier in the week. Demand was still apparent in the market especially on industrial items such as low grade, shorts, and boards. Supply was tight on these items. It was a different story on the higher-grade products where supply varied, and prices ranged over a wider spectrum. It seemed that wholesalers could not get out of each other’s own way on some quotes bantered in the marketplace.
