Buyers awoke and energized the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday. Whether they were inspired by the activity and sales seen by the eastern mills on Monday or the slight increases in prices experienced yesterday, the volume of transactions greatly surpassed the previous day’s tallies. The cheaper prices heard earlier in the week had diminished considerably. Supply out of the eastern mills seemed out of sync with demand, with no quotes on many of the items being sourced. Buyers looked to buy at yesterday’s prices but found the mills firm on their numbers or asking higher prices.

there is stop and go activity in the market. One day you are excited and the other not so. There were many dealers away at various shows this week and early next week keeping decision makers away from the market.
