There was better participation by many in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday. The healthy activity led to increased orders and was a welcome relief for traders caught between a market that was busy one day and quieter another. The increased activity exhibited an undercurrent of demand that needs to be continually replenished to keep inventories in balance for many concerns. The better volume of transactions also helped to give ballast to prices that seemed to be teetering. Overall, with this week’s ups and downs there was more confidence displayed in a positive health and direction of the market.
