Bill's Corner- An Eastern Spruce Perspective

Activity remained steady in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday. There was a good mix of reload and back-to-back business that constituted much of the activity seen. The orders transacted with the mills were close to their asking prices. The eastern mills have orders for the next couple of weeks on many of the items they have available, but they were also listening to where prices are to attract additional orders that made sense to them. Despite a tone of negativity, the market is being resilient with the orders transacted daily over a large geographic area and over a wide range of products.
