Bill's Corner- An Eastern Spruce Perspective

A general malaise overtook the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday as activity lost some of its energy compared to earlier in the week. Fewer orders were transacted as it was difficult to get dealers motivated to buy. Many of them have seen a general slowdown in business over the last few weeks. Even lower prices did not inspire clients to buy although there were firm offers shown to the mills and distributors at a substantial discount to the current market. Most were rebuked especially on everyday items. The mills seemed more optimistic given current low prices and spring forthcoming.
