There was a let up in sales in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday. Lighter demand eased the flow of orders to the eastern mills. They had some items they would have discounted but little that drew much interest. The items that buyers sought were either priced higher or not available, leading to frustration and indecision. It was not surprising that the mills lacked product after the robust sales they had on Monday and Tuesday. Mill shipments extend through mid-April on many of the available items, leaving higher priced products from distributor’s reloads to cover needs.
