Something let the air out of the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday. Activity and sales were dead calm, nearly a breeze was felt. Buyers did their best to source whatever quotes clients had but found little that convinced them to buy. Prices seemed too high for most to commit. Dealers were generally busy but with prices basically flat and adequate inventories, there was no urgency or reason to buy now. It seemed that a lack of demand in the market along with low supply from the mills led to an unexpected perfect storm of utter quietness for the day.
