The activity and sales that ended the first quarter last week in the eastern spruce lumber market were much less than what were experienced prior to then. With the orders procure earlier, the eastern mills had less product to sell the rest of the week. This helped curb additional sales along with the higher asking prices that followed previous sales. Dealers seemed to have adequate inventories that allowed them time to wait before looking to buy more. Eastern mills had some accumulations they looked to sell to end the week but little that motivated buyers.
