Activity was consistent if not better than Monday in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday. It was believed that supply is better than demand, and to start the week this was true. The mills had a fair amount of product to sell. But from what they sold the last two days, taking small counters to do so, there was not as much available by day’s end to choose from. Buyers started hearing that what they wanted was gone and there was little extra to back it up. They either paid up to get what was asked for or waited. The market was sneaky busy keeping prices firmer than what was earlier expected or believed.
