Increased demand yesterday in the eastern spruce lumber market helped propel orders to the mills and distributors, ahead of a long holiday weekend for many. The mills were firmer with prices with little to no counters from buyers, although attempts were made. The orders generated instilled confidence in traders and the overall good health of the market. There was though, skepticism by dealers of their future business which kept their additional purchases at bay. Manufacturers were strong players in yesterday’s sales wanting to lock future shipments to them at the current low level of prices.
