Bill's Corner- An Eastern Spruce Perspective

With many out on Holiday Friday, it was no surprise that last week ended on a quieter note in the eastern spruce lumber market. Activity and sales were diminished. There was some demand but easily filled in by the reloads. The mills did not see much action. Prices were stable for the week with little movement which helped stymie purchases and depress an urgency to buy. Supply from the eastern mills was good, still outpacing demand, but not enough to put undue pressure on prices on many items. Mill order files are roughly two weeks and well within reason for buyers’ agendas.
