Activity plodded along in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday. Sales and new orders were not as robust as many would have liked but with many still away at the Montreal Wood Convention it was no surprise. There was still very good demand in the market although cheap prices stole some attention and kept traders off balance and uneasy. The Montreal Wood Convention ended with an excellent attendance of over 1100 registrants. Traders and mills came away cautiously optimistic, realistic of the current market and knowing there was hard work ahead to achieve profitability.
