It was tough sledding in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday. Orders did not come easy. There was a lot of hard work of digging and probing to get the business. The mills were resistant to counters but did succumb to some, especially for what they had on the ground. It was a different story if they did not. There was steady demand and more orders to be had, but clients were looking for steeper discounts to commit. Retailers and manufactures were busy, but not at the pace they have been used to or would like. No matter of one’s work, it was a grind for all concerns.
