Bill's Corner- An Eastern Spruce Perspective

Activity picked up in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday. After a slow start, demand picked up in the afternoon sparking a round of buying. It seemed that buyers were anxious to cover pressing needs and could not wait to do so. The mills took slight counters to accommodate, which was all that was needed to motivate them to step in and buy. There was good participation by many concerns on a wide selection of products, especially on stud items. There were plenty of cheaper firm offers by dealers presented to the mills during the day, which were quickly dismissed. Prices were much firmer by day’s end.
