Bill's Corner- An Eastern Spruce Perspective

There was little excitement to end last week in the eastern spruce lumber market. Buyers had retreated to the sidelines while dealers and distributors assessed their inventories. There was no urgency to buy. Published prices were off on random dimension but remained unchanged on stud items. There was hope and excitement earlier in the week that demand would intensify, and it seemed that it was doing so until caution set in mid-week and held back purchases. It was an overall good week of sales, but supply continued to outpace demand, keeping pressure on prices.
