It was a challenging start to the new week in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday. Although the volume of orders was good, it was difficult for traders to motivate or inspire their clients to buy. The eastern mills had material, probably not the breath many were hoping for, but nonetheless there were a fair number of items to offer. Prices were negotiable to a certain extent on some of the items they had, but not all. 2x6 was in good supply and vulnerable in price but 2x4 was less than it has been and much firmer. Demand continues to be strong on stud products.
