Steady demand continued in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday, generating a plethora of orders. Inspired by news of a couple of curtailment announcements both out west with West Fraser and in the east with Arbec, buyers covered their shorts and speculated by buying extra lumber to peddle. Prices stopped their recent declines and firmed up quickly across a wide spectrum of items. Mill order files strengthened through next week and into the following. The increased activity boosted confidence among traders that changes in the market were afoot.
