Strong demand gave the eastern spruce lumber market a good start to the week yesterday. Although activity took time to rev up, the afternoon made up for the slower morning. Orders were on a wide range of items with various shipping schedules. Asking prices were consistent among the mills and followed lower published numbers. Items that did not vary from last week remained stable. Generally, the eastern mills could deliver withing 2-3 weeks, with some able to do so for next week. Distributors were resistant to counters, but chose their spots to trade, as did the mills.
