Bill's Corner- An Eastern Spruce Perspective

Takeaway at the mill, distributor and retail levels were lighter than anticipated in the eastern spruce lumber market last week. Overall sales suffered. Order files shrunk allowing for quicker deliveries. Prices drifted sideways for the most part. There were some opportunities of which counters were involved but they were item specific and not on a widespread level. Demand was steady but not overpowering. Trying to eke out a profit for all concerns has been challenging with fierce competition. Buyers and traders’ skillsets are often put to the test, making it for an interesting market to learn and trade!
