Activity and sales kept up their momentum in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday. Steady demand helped keep prices stable, enough to keep the mills from chasing the market to garner orders. Dealers continued to fill in as they sold but some went a little further and bought ahead, giving the mills an added boost to their order files. Sales centered around stud items, straight length dimension and low-grade products. Truck shipments from the mills were for the first full week of June and beyond. Some car shipments from the eastern mills were still available for next week.
