Bill's Corner- An Eastern Spruce Perspective

With the long holiday weekend looming, it was no surprise that last week ended on a quieter note in the eastern spruce lumber market. Prior to Friday, the week had steady demand but not as many orders were transacted as were expected. 2x4 items were more in vogue, maintaining their relative values. Not so on the other widths which saw less demand and some slight downward pressure in price. The eastern mills traded on the slower moving items that had accumulated but were less resistant to counters on the items that were selling. They are also able to ship within two weeks.
