It was a solid start to the new week in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday. Strong demand was the key to the volume of orders transacted. Buyers were poised to step in and care for what was needed. The eastern mills had a fair number of items to sell although they were not overly anxious to sell at the expense of price. Rather, they concentrated on what was called for and looked to ways to supply the need. The increased activity boosted confidence and demonstrated that dealers were experiencing a better flow of product through their yards, warranting stronger replenishment.
