New orders roared past the previous day’s tally yesterday in the eastern spruce lumber market. Strong demand turned into several orders resulting in one of the better sales days of the year for many traders. Although quiet to begin, the afternoon’s activity more than made up for the slow start to the day. Distributors were the premier recipients of the orders transacted but the eastern mills did see some momentum shift their way. Manufacturers voiced a noticeable slowdown in their work, but they along with dealers, do have commitments and expect more business coming their way.
