Once again demand and activity were strong in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday. A good volume of orders resulted but disappointment reigned. The lack of available product choked off the potential of even more transactions, frustrating buyers. The eastern mills continued with a defensive approach to selling, not wanting to commit and take on too much. Uncertainty of the wildfires and the impact to their production kept them at bay. Dealers were out in force trying to cover as many things as possible, only to find resistance and the unwillingness from the mills to sell more.
