It was another solid start to the week in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday. Despite the market being in a transitional period where prices were moving higher, traders found the sauce to make the orders happen. It was not an easy task as dealers have not changed their general buying philosophy of replacing as they sell. They also needed some convincing that they were doing the right thing. The demand confirmed that they are busier and the pressure to replenish is presenting itself more often than it has. The eastern mills sold into the activity, being firm on prices when they could.
