The lack of product available from the mills to start the new week limited the volume of orders transacted in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday. Recent price increases also had their impact, causing second guessing on potential purchases. Current mill production and supply have not been able to keep up with the recent surge in demand, making it a challenge for buyers in finding opportunities to trade with. Truck shipments from the eastern mills are into the second week of July. Next Tuesday’s Fourth of July holiday also poses logistical obstacles for them as well as the reloads to making timely deliveries.
