Bill's Corner- An Eastern Spruce Perspective

Demand eased in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday, slowing sales. There was more lumber available, not from the eastern mills but from secondaries or wholesalers with previously bought positions. They were anxious to sell into the strength of the market, competing with distributors wanting to do the same. Rising prices stalled with this activity and made buyers think twice before making purchases. The eastern mills still had little to offer, being conservative in their approach and conviction to sell, maintaining a philosophy to offer only what is on the ground.
