Sales were good to start the new week in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday, despite recent heavy rains impacting several areas. Demand remained very strong, but buyers were held at bay due to the lack of material from the eastern mills and climbing prices. Orders did not flow as many would have liked. Expectations were higher. There was also a mix of lower priced items in the market that traders competed with, disrupting their confidences. It also made them work harder to find other sources or offer other options to what was needed and asked for.
