Activity last week in the eastern spruce lumber market was quieter than what it has been recently. Prices were weak and demand lite, making it a challenge for traders to secure orders. There were opportunities from the mills, but buyers were disinterested, feeling they would be lower in time. The lack of confidence in the market was pronounced and difficult to overcome, despite dealers echoing that they were relatively quite busy. Several eastern mills return to production this week with many able to deliver next week on the limited number of items they will have.
