Uncertainty prevailed in the eastern spruce lumber market to start the new week yesterday. It was difficult for traders to gauge what levels to quote their clients following last week’s pullback in prices. Published numbers were only a starting point. The key was getting the firm offer and making it happen with the mills or against inventories. With several eastern Canadian mills commencing production, after a two-week hiatus, many were anxious to get back to selling and finding the market. It was also a Civic Holiday throughout Canada. Participation was lighter than normal.
