Bill's Corner- An Eastern Spruce Perspective

Although last Friday was a quieter day for sales, it was another strong week of demand and activity in the eastern spruce lumber market. Takeaway was steady over a wide variety of products, benefitting both the mills and the reloads. The volume of orders was consistent with the previous two weeks. Prices increased only slightly, keeping buyers interested and close to the market. The business transacted enabled the eastern mills to maintain a two-week order file, with shipments into mid-September from most sources. Confidence was high that business would maintain itself over the next several weeks.
