Activity was slow to begin the week in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday. Demand did pick up as the day progressed, ending with a favorable volume of orders transacted. The eastern mills were asking slightly higher prices, which preempted sales for them as secondary positions and distributor’s reloads offered cheaper options for dealers to choose from. There was some back-to-back business done with the mills, but it was specific to the mill and its products. Supply from the eastern mills was also inconsistent, with few having what was needed to fulfill the inquiries presented.
