It was a slower day for many in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday. Demand was lacking. Buyers were frustrated with the lack of lumber available from the eastern mills along with the cheaper prices bantered around in the marketplace, especially among wholesalers. Activity was lethargic. There was little inspiration to motivate traders. Sales were a grind. Prices meandered with little movement one way or the other. The market was a dichotomy. On one hand there were inclinations that prices might drift lower, yet on the other hand there were several reasons for them to go higher.
