Bill's Corner- An Eastern Spruce Perspective

Demand and sales were better than expected ahead of the long holiday weekend last Friday in the eastern spruce lumber market. Many of the orders were centered around reload inventories and quick deliveries. The eastern mills struggled to generate sales throughout the week, relying on their order files. Most can deliver product within two weeks. Prices adjusted with 2x6 and 2x10 lower but good demand on 2x4 kept this item firm to slightly higher. There was noticeable interest by several retailers to locking in product for future commitments which helped boost confidence among traders that good business lies ahead.
