Sales maintained a steady pace last week in the eastern spruce lumber market. Demand was consistent but not overwhelming. Expectations were higher. Buyers in most cases had time to pick and choose what they needed and where to find it. The eastern mills had a good array of products to work with and favorable shipments. Prices were firm on the hotter selling items such as in 2x4, but they gave up a little on the slower moving items such as 2x6, although 16’s firmed up later in the week after seeing some life. Eastern mill order files are primarily through this week.
