The eastern spruce lumber market plodded along yesterday with a steady grind of orders transacted. There was enough demand to keep prices from dropping though there was pressure from buyers to do so. Eastern mill order files thinned enabling many of them to deliver product next week although their inventories were not deep on several items. The same held true for dealers and distributors wanting to maintain a manageable supply of product on the ground without being too long. Many did see value to covering longer term commitments at the currently low prices in the market.
