Bill's Corner- An Eastern Spruce Perspective

The sales pace slowed to end last week in the eastern spruce lumber market. The overall week did see good takeaway for many concerns although stronger supply put pressure on prices, allowing them to slip. Stud products were more vulnerable of the items traded as attention turned to the longer dimensional lengths especially for 16’s. The eastern mills struggled to sell their production schedules for the week. Dealers kept their inventories lean although more were apt to cover longer term commitments with delayed deliveries, wanting to profit with the low prices in the market.
