The sales pace slowed in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday. There was a fair amount of fill in from the reloads by dealers, all needing quickly but little else. The eastern mills saw limited activity and few orders. Prices were soft on material that was ready to ship from them, while items that were not on the ground remained relatively unchanged. The market lacked the enthusiasm seen earlier in the week. Missing was a spark to ignite activity. There was more of a hurry up and wait attitude among buyers. Inventories were adequate with little desire or urgency to add more.
