Bill's Corner- An Eastern Spruce Perspective

It was a grind for many trying to get orders in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday. The reloads were the basis for much of the business transacted as the variety of available products and quick delivery were the keys to getting the business. The eastern mills could ship but they lacked the mix of items needed to compete. Distributors were also more aggressive with prices. The mills tried to entice buyers but had little luck, shying away from the major price concessions needed to getting orders. Lower prices also kept buyers that could wait on the sidelines.
