With several absent from their desks yesterday in observance of Yom Kippur, it was a slower day for sales in the eastern spruce lumber market. That said, many were encouraged by the demand and inquiries seen in the marketplace as the day progressed. This built up the feeling and confidence that better business was ahead. The eastern mills were also not as quick to sacrifice price to get orders. Traders though were aggressive with quotes, hoping to get a look at potential orders. Clients looked to as many options as possible, often waiting to pull the trigger and hoping for even lower prices.
