Bill's Corner- An Eastern Spruce Perspective

Last Friday ended quietly in the eastern spruce lumber market. There was less pressure from the mills to sell as there was a lack of dealer interest to buy. Prices eroded throughout the week. Some mills went off the market on items they sold well, wanting better returns on them. The market struggled with news of higher interest rates and a slowdown of home sales. Despite these things, strong demand spurred a very busy week of orders. The new month brings expectations of solid business as dealers and manufactures are busy with current commitments and planning for upcoming needs.
