Stronger demand yesterday led to a much higher volume of orders in the eastern spruce lumber market. There was more interest from dealers to locking down material, not that they feared that supply would tighten, but content on locking in profits for some of their upcoming commitments along with purchases to shore up depleting inventories. The eastern mills grappled with trying to cover many of these needs but found difficulty coming up with many of the products desired. Logistics were seeing an increase of disruptions for various reasons, creating delays for many concerns expecting timely deliveries.
