With a continued imbalance of supply over demand, aggressive selling was again prevalent in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday. The mills tried to maintain a firmer stance on their quotes but had few sales to substantiate this philosophy. Prices slipped slightly further on lighter demand. Dealers were content with maintaining their inventories, filling in when needed. There was little reason or motivation to do otherwise. Expectations were high that better business lies ahead, but this has not materialized yet. Until it does, the market is in for more of the same.
