There was less activity and fewer sales last Friday making it a quieter end to the week in the eastern spruce lumber market. The eastern mills had fewer items available to offer after having a solid week of sales, especially on Thursday. There was also less buying interest as the cheaper prices seen earlier in the week were not as prevalent. Overall prices were down slightly during the week, but published numbers on Friday were not off as much as may have been expected, suggesting an undercurrent of strength in the market and that it may not be as weak as perceived.
