It was a rousing start to the new week in the eastern spruce lumber market yesterday. The eastern mills were busy selling early with little let up during the day. Distributors, wholesalers, and dealers all chimed in wanting to buy and doing so. Counters were off the table as the mills had little difficulty selling at their asking numbers. There was some reluctance by some to commit, keeping the volume of orders lower than potential. The activity yesterday seemed to be pointing to a change, one that would be welcome news for the mills after several down weeks of the market.
