Bill's Corner- An Eastern Spruce Perspective

Although activity and sales lessened on Friday, published prices in the eastern spruce lumber market changed direction, moving higher after several down weeks. The overall week saw a consistent pattern of demand and orders enabling the mills to build an order file and allowing them to bid and get higher prices on many items. They did have some accumulations that they struggled to sell but the day to day, high in demand items sold easily with demand for more largely unfulfilled. There are two major conventions this week that will keep several mills, dealers, and traders away from the market.
